You will probably think Susy and I are crazy, but we didn’t even get off the ship for a few hours to walk around Venice. I guess you could say we are old, or “been there done that”, but in any case we’ve been to Venice several times and decided to just unpack and relax on the ship, both the 17th and 18th of Oct.. Early afternoon, on Thursday, Oct. 18th we set sail on the beginning of the cruise portion of our trip. The sail out of Venice was, as usual, spectacular, since you have to pass right along side the old city, from one end to the other, including St. Mark’s square.
Before we start the sail, however, I have to show you a once in a life time photo. In our 21 cruises, Susy has showed up for the Life-Boat drill maybe 5 times. She just doesn’t like standing around getting the same demonstration time after time. Well, for some reason (maybe it was because they threatened to disembark any passenger who didn’t attend the drill) Susy decided to go. Here’s proof:
Now let’s go out on the ship’s Lideo (9th floor) and take a look at the city, as we sail out to sea. First the city’s Port Sign:
With my new camera I took a close up of the Venice sky line:
This is what it looks like from afar:
As we sail along, a look at one of Venice’s many churches:
Then, of course, St Mark’s square:
Want to go right in to the square?
Take a look down one of Venice’s water streets:
And the photos as we pull away from Venice and head for Dubrovnik:
I want to close this first cruising post by showing you are nightly dinner photos. This was our first formal night and I thought Susy looked stunning (that comes from having a good husband!!!!).
Next stop Dubrovnik, Croatia,
Love You All,
Gary (alias Gagu)
